Charges dropped for protestor who supplied Gardaí with cannabis

Martin Condon, a Cork man and long standing cannabis reform activist was before a Cork court today which dropped charges relating to a ‘civil disobedience’ protest held in February 2021.

In 2021, Mr. Condon entered a Cork Garda station with one cannabis plant along with a gram of cannabis divided into nine individual wraps and handed them to Gardaí within the station.

Speaking in 2021, Condon said the protest was done “in solidarity with Little Collins” to ‘”highlight the injustices of the Misuse of Drugs Act”.

This morning, Condon was before the courts in relation this protest in which it was thrown out by a Cork judge.

Speaking today Mr. Condon said “I literally said to the guard in the [February] protest ‘I’m supplying you with cannabis for you to share with the other guards’

“Long story short, for some reason they tested the cannabis in this case and found it not to contain THC, so they dropped the charges.”

Mr. Condon is currently awaiting a copy of the test results.
